A single-surgeon hand surgery practice in Lakeway is seeking a personable, dependable and highly organized Medical Front Desk Administrator / Patient Coordinator. This is an opportunity to become an important part of a physician's practice rather than one person in a large administrative department. You will work directly with the surgeon and help patients throughout their experience with our office—from their first telephone call through appointments, surgery coordination and follow-up care. We are looking for someone who takes pride in making a medical office run smoothly and who enjoys providing patients with personal, attentive service. What You'll Do Be the welcoming first point of contact for our patients Answer patient calls clearly, patiently and professionally Schedule and confirm appointments Greet and register patients Maintain accurate information in the EMR/EHR ( Athena) Obtain medical records, imaging and referral information Communicate with referring physicians and medical offices Assist with insurance information and prior authorizations Help coordinate surgery and postoperative appointments Maintain patient confidentiality and accurate records Collect Copays and Outstanding Balances at Check In Work directly with the surgeon to keep the office organized and efficient Who Would Be a Great Fit We would especially like to meet someone who: Has a warm, professional and confident telephone manner Speaks clearly and is comfortable communicating with older orhard-of-hearing patients Enjoys helping patients and solving problems Is organized and attentive to details Can work independently and take responsibility for getting things done Is comfortable with computers and medical-office technology Is dependable and punctual Would enjoy working closely with one surgeon and herpatients Previous medical-office experience is preferred. Collect and review patient documentation, including insurance information, medical histories, and consent forms, ensuring compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies. Verify insurance coverage, process medical billing claims, and facilitate collections using knowledge of health insurance plans such as Medicare and private payers. Maintain accurate medical records by updating electronic health records (EHR) systems and ensuring proper filing of paper documents when necessary. Assist healthcare provider with medical coding tasks to support accurate billing and recordkeeping. Handle phone communication professionally by answering inquiries, providing appointment reminders, and directing calls appropriately with excellent phone etiquette. ( Ring Central Phone System) Support office operations by managing clerical tasks such as data entry (including typing with accuracy > 40 words/min), filing, faxing, and helping with patient document needs. Ensure Privacy compliance ( HIPAA) with clinical procedures related to health information management and clinical confidentiality policies at all times. Skills Strong knowledge of medical collection processes, billing procedures, and health insurance protocols including Medicare. Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks; familiarity with electronic health records management is essential.
