This role plays an important part in the quality and continuity of care provided to our patients and serves as a key connection between patients, providers, pharmacies, and the clinical team. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical knowledge, excellent telephone and communication skills, and the ability to efficiently manage a high volume of patient calls and messages in a fast-paced medical office. Requirements Candidates must possess excellent communication and telephone skills, strong customer service skills, computer proficiency, sound clinical judgment, a reliable work ethic, and a professional demeanor. The ability to prioritize, multitask, communicate effectively with providers and clinical staff, and work closely as part of a team is essential. Previous Electronic Medical Record (EMR/EHR) experience is required. Previous OB/GYN experience is strongly preferred. Job Duties Manage incoming clinical patient calls, portal messages, and telephone encounters. Gather detailed information regarding patient symptoms, concerns, medications, and relevant medical history. Utilize established clinical protocols to appropriately prioritize patient concerns and determine when provider review or escalation is necessary. Communicate patient concerns to physicians and other clinical staff accurately and efficiently. Provide patients with provider-approved instructions, recommendations, and follow-up information. Identify urgent or potentially emergent symptoms and appropriately escalate patients according to established office protocols. Document all patient communication thoroughly and accurately in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Process prescription refill requests and communicate with pharmacies as appropriate. Assist with medication prior authorizations and other medication-related requests. Review and communicate laboratory and test results according to provider instructions and office protocols. Coordinate follow-up appointments and assist patients with next steps in their care when necessary. Maintain and monitor clinical task boxes, telephone encounters, and patient messages to ensure timely completion and follow-up. Assist providers and clinical staff with additional patient-care responsibilities as needed. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and all practice policies and procedures. Job Requirements 1+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant required Previous back-office or clinical Medical Assistant experience required OB/GYN experience strongly preferred Medical Assistant diploma or certification EMR/EHR experience required Strong computer and documentation skills Excellent telephone communication and patient service skills Ability to remain organized and professional while managing a high volume of patient calls and messages Current BLS certification Spanish-speaking preferred
