Counseling4Life is seeking an experienced and highly dependable Mental Health Billing Manager to oversee the billing and revenue-cycle operations of our growing group practice. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of extensive mental health billing experience and be prepared to step into the role with minimal training. This is not an entry-level position. We need someone who can work independently, take ownership of the billing cycle, solve problems proactively, and collaborate effectively as part of our administrative team. Key Responsibilities Manage the complete mental health billing and revenue-cycle process. Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable. Submit, monitor, correct, and follow up on insurance claims. Review and post payments, ERAs, and EOBs accurately. Research denied or rejected claims to identify the underlying cause. Correct and resubmit claims or appeal denials when appropriate. Follow up with insurance companies until claims are resolved. Determine when balances should be transferred to client responsibility. Communicate with clients professionally regarding outstanding balances and payment arrangements. Manage collections and aging accounts. Complete insurance eligibility and benefit verification. Confirm coverage, copays, deductibles, coinsurance, authorization requirements, and plan limitations. Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record and billing systems. Reconcile payments and identify discrepancies. Track unresolved claims and ensure timely follow-up. Communicate billing trends, concerns, and recommendations to leadership. Work collaboratively with therapists, front-office staff, credentialing personnel, and company leadership. Help improve billing procedures, workflows, and internal controls. Required Qualifications Minimum of five years of mental health billing experience . Extensive knowledge of behavioral health insurance billing and revenue-cycle management. Strong experience managing claims, denials, appeals, payments, collections, ERAs, and EOBs. Ability to research denial reasons and independently carry claims through resolution. Experience verifying mental health insurance benefits and coverage. Experience working in an electronic medical record system. Strong understanding of insurance terminology, CPT codes, diagnosis codes, timely-filing requirements, and authorization procedures. Advanced proficiency with Google Sheets and Google Workspace . Ability to work efficiently across multiple systems, browser tabs, payer portals, and accounts. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Dependable, professional, and able to maintain consistent attendance. Able to work independently while contributing positively to a team. Comfortable using or quickly learning Slack and RingCentral. Ability to protect confidential client and financial information in accordance with HIPAA and company policies. Preferred Qualifications Experience billing for a multi-provider mental health group practice. Experience with commercial insurance plans, Medicare, TRICARE, EAPs, and managed-care plans. Experience with provider credentialing, payer enrollment, CAQH, contract tracking, or provider roster maintenance. Experience supervising or coordinating billing workflows. Familiarity with TherapyAppointment or a similar behavioral health EMR. What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who: Takes ownership and follows tasks through completion.
