Job Description
We are a psychiatry practice located in Sherman, Texas. We are looking for customer service oriented people with medical office or hospital experience to join our team. ONLY applicants with a minimum of 3 years previous medical office experience will be considered. We are only interested in people with winning personalities who wish to provide patients with outstanding experience and compassionate care. The right candidate will be an individual who can demonstrate exceptional multitasking abilities in a variety of patient encounters. You must be able to handle high call volumes and work in a fast paced environment. Experience with coordinating referrals preferred. You may be expected to assist in back office duties such as, but not limited to obtaining vitals signs. Responsibilities and Duties Answering a multi-line phone system and handling patient calls as appropriate. Scheduling and confirming patient appointments. Completing the New Patient Registration process, including sending Registration forms to patient via mail, electronically. Create and update Patient Accounts in our EMR, including demographic and insurance information (demographics include current patient address, phone numbers and email address.) Greeting patients/checking-in and checking-out patients. Verifying insurance eligibility and benefits with health plans before the patients arrive. Obtaining referrals, precertification/pre-authorizations, as required. Collecting co-payments, coinsurances, balances, etc. at or prior to service. Scanning and sorting medical records in the EMR. Managing fax inbox(es), both in EHR and standard fax. Communicating and collaborating with other health team members. Cross-training with other team-members, at the discretion of the office manager Posting Charges and Payments in EMR Completing and submitting accurate End-of-Day Reconciliation Making decisions regarding front office operations in the absence of the Practice Manager, including physician schedule changes. Assisting in relationship management with referring physician offices. Handling referrals All other duties as assigned Qualifications and Skills 3 years of proven medical office/medical assisting experience in a physician practice. Excellent typing and documentation skills. Excellent computer skills and experience with MS Office Word, Excel and Outlook. Exceptional customer service and communication skills, verbal and written. Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
