Led by Dr. Roma Patel, a prior BCM glaucoma specialist with 12 years of experience, this practice will be focused on quality over quantity. We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Ophthalmology Lead Technician to join the team. This role offers an exciting pathway for growth, with the opportunity to advance into a Clinical Manager position and become an integral of this practice from the ground up. As a vital member of our clinical staff, you will lead ophthalmic patient examinations, operate specialized diagnostic equipment, and ensure the highest standards of patient care and confidentiality. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive ophthalmic patient intake including tonometry and visual acuity assessments Operate and maintain ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as A-scan biometry , Cirrus OCT, topography, and other ophthalmic diagnostic tools Assist with patient intake procedures including use of ModMed EMR. Provide exceptional patient service by explaining procedures clearly, answering questions, and ensuring comfort throughout examinations Support the clinical team by managing medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality Train and mentor junior staff members on ophthalmic procedures, medical terminology, and equipment operation to foster team growth Assist in practice planning including floor plan optimization, surgical scheduling, patient flow -- being an integral part of the start up process. Requirements Proven experience in a medical office setting with a focus on ophthalmology or optometric care - minimum of 3 years Ability to perform eye refraction assessments accurately and use a lens meter Hands-on experience operating ophthalmic diagnostic imaging equipment such as A-scan biometry, OCTs, fundus photography, and tonometers High school education required; college degree preferred. Excellent patient service skills with a focus on direct patient care and maintaining clinical confidentiality policies Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, medical terminology, and aseptic techniques necessary for safe clinical practice Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
