Job Description

SECTION 1
Job Summary (Summary of the basic functions of the position) Surgical coordinators are responsible for all aspects of pre-operation activities for their medical facility. This work typically includes following a patient through many stages of preparatory work. Once a patient's surgical needs have been identified, surgical coordinators work with their facility to secure a surgical schedule for the patient.
SECTION 2
Duties and Responsibilities (Responsibilities necessary to accomplish job functions) Discusses treatment options, establishes treatment schedules, and prepares financial arrangements with patients. Monitors each patient's progress to ensure completion of treatment plan and reports patient status to attending doctor as well as enter and track patient treatment plans in computer system. Ensure that all forms for acceptance (predeterminations to third parties benefit providers) have been submitted and patients have been notified of status and their financial responsibilities. Manages consultation reports and progress. Actively participates as a contributing member of the clinic team to achieve patient satisfaction and production goals. Adheres to all safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities while supporting a culture of high quality and great customer service. Performs other duties that may be necessary or in the best interest of the organization.

Experience Requirements Minimum of 2 to 4 years front office experience Experience with Dermatology/Skin Care, preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements Knowledgeable in various insurance plans, manuals, exclusions and limitations. Detail oriented, professional attitude, reliable Management and organizational skills to support the leadership of this function Ability to follow or provide verbal & written instructions with sufficient grammar and spelling skills to avoid mistakes or misinterpretations Interpersonal skills to support customer service, functional, and team mate support needs Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing Mathematical and/or analytical ability for basic to intermediate problem solving Basic to intermediate computer operation Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook Specialty knowledge of systems relating to job function Knowledge of state and federal regulations for this position; general understanding of HIPAA guidelines
