Job Description
Summary The Patient Care Equipment Manager oversees the hospital-wide management of small patient-care equipment to ensure clinical teams have timely access to safe, functional devices. This role leads a team of equipment technicians, partners closely with nursing units, biomedical engineering, and infection prevention, and maintains strict adherence to hospital policies and regulatory standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Hospital Equipment Operations:
Direct daily workflow for cleaning, testing, staging, and distributing equipment such as beds, pumps, monitors, mobility aids, and respiratory devices.Team Leadership:
Supervise, train, and evaluate equipment technicians; coordinate staffing to support 24/7 hospital operations.Inventory & Asset Control:
Maintain accurate counts, track utilization trends, and coordinate repairs or replacements with Biomedical Engineering.Regulatory & Safety Compliance:
Ensure all processes meet regulatory requirements, CMS, OSHA, and hospital infection-control standards.Clinical Collaboration:
Work directly with nursing units, ED, OR, ICU, and transport teams to anticipate equipment needs and resolve issues quickly.Quality Assurance:
Implement preventive maintenance schedules, monitor turnaround times, and drive process improvements.Rapid Response Support:
Coordinate urgent equipment delivery for codes, surge events, and high-acuity patient needs.Reporting & Documentation:
Maintain logs, service records, and performance metrics for leadership review and accreditation audits.Supervisory Responsibilities Reports to:

Patient Care Equipment Technicians and Team Lead Qualifications Attention to detail is a must. Time management, multitasking, leadership, team coordination, ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment, and physical ability to move and manage equipment when necessary. This position may require on-call availability for urgent equipment needs. Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in healthcare operations, logistics, or a related field preferred. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree. Two years in hospital equipment management, sterile processing, supply chain, or a related clinical support role required. Supervisory experience preferred. Familiarity with hospital equipment, asset-tracking systems, and basic mechanical troubleshooting is important. Strong communication, prioritization, and leadership abilities are required, along with the ability to work in fast-paced clinical environments. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Certified Health Care Environmental Services Professional (CHESP), Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET), Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST), or Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) preferred but not required.Similar remote jobs
