Job Description
Our Organization For over 40 years, AHCS has been the primary public behavioral healthcare provider in the Alleghany Highlands area, offering services to adults and children with challenges related to mental health, substance use, and developmental disabilities. Role Summary As the Same Day Access Supervisor, you will lead daily operations for AHCS's access, screening, and assessment pathway so individuals and families can enter mental health and substance use disorder services without unnecessary delay. You will provide clinical and administrative supervision, manage staffing and workflow, and ensure documentation quality and timeliness. Key responsibilities include overseeing comprehensive needs assessments, eligibility determinations, orientations, initial service planning, referrals, and linkage to internal programs and community resources; monitoring performance outcomes and access barriers; coordinating with front office, emergency services, billing, and quality improvement; and ensuring compliance with AHCS policy, DBHDS licensure, DMAS requirements, Step-VA expectations, and funding rules. Apply to help strengthen timely, client-centered entry to care. A Typical Workday Your day starts by reviewing access volume, open items in the EHR, and staffing coverage to keep the flow steady. You touch base with the front office and clinical teams to resolve scheduling or intake bottlenecks, then consult with staff on complex presentations and documentation questions as needs arise. Throughout the day, you track timeliness metrics, follow up on pending referrals and community coordination, and partner with billing and quality staff to address compliance or data issues. When urgent safety concerns surface, you ensure immediate action through established procedures and appropriate crisis connections. You close out the day by confirming next-day readiness and documenting key operational decisions.
