Primary Responsibilities Serves as the primary day-to-day clinical resource and point of contact for the assigned surgeon. Reviews the assigned surgeon's clinic schedule in advance to identify complex patients, procedures, imaging needs, post-operative visits, add-ons, and potential workflow issues. Prepares for upcoming clinics by ensuring necessary records, imaging, test results, operative reports, supplies, instruments, and equipment are available before the patient is seen. Actively manages the assigned surgeon's clinic flow throughout the day and communicates delays, changes, add-ons, and patient needs to the appropriate team members. Anticipates the assigned surgeon's clinical and operational needs and proactively addresses issues before they disrupt patient care or clinic flow. Monitors and assists with completion of provider tasks, patient messages, clinical requests, forms, orders, results, and other outstanding items to ensure timely follow-through. Tracks outstanding imaging, laboratory results, referrals, clearances, and other clinical items requiring provider review or action. Maintains familiarity with the assigned surgeon's clinical preferences, protocols, procedures, scheduling preferences, and workflow expectations and helps ensure consistency among supporting staff. Provides day-to-day direction and guidance to Medical Assistants supporting the assigned surgeon during clinic while not serving as their formal supervisor. Identifies patients who may require surgery or additional procedural coordination and ensures an appropriate handoff to the Surgical Coordinator. Works closely with the Surgical Coordinator to ensure clinical information and surgeon instructions are accurately communicated and outstanding items are addressed. Assists with continuity of care by ensuring patients understand next steps and that follow-up appointments, imaging, referrals, or other ordered services are appropriately coordinated. Helps identify workflow inefficiencies and collaborates with leadership to recommend improvements. Oversees exam room and clinical supply readiness, including stocking, auditing for expired items, and maintaining instruments.
