Role:
Harrisonburg Dermatology Plc is looking for a compassionate and organized Patient Care Coordinator to join our growing team in Penn Laird, VA. In this role, you'll be the friendly face and voice that guides patients through their dermatology care journey — from scheduling to follow-up. Responsibilities:
Greet and check in patients, ensuring a welcoming and efficient front-desk experience Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments using practice management software Verify insurance eligibility, collect co-pays, and process billing information accurately Coordinate incoming referrals Maintain and update accurate patient records in the EHR system in compliance with HIPAA Communicate with clinical staff to ensure smooth patient flow throughout the office Respond to patient inquiries via phone, email, and patient portal in a timely manner
Requirements:
1+ years of experience in a medical office, healthcare, or patient-facing administrative role Familiarity with EHR/EMR systems and medical scheduling software Knowledge of insurance verification, co-pay collection Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-first attitude Ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy clinical environment Understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards High school diploma or equivalent required; medical administrative certification a plus
