Job Description
Authorization CoordinatorAbout Anderson Treatment Anderson Treatment provides residential and outpatient substance use disorder treatment throughout Virginia. Our mission is to help individuals build lasting recovery through compassionate, evidence based care. We are looking for an organized and detail oriented Authorization Coordinator to join our team and help ensure clients receive timely access to the services they need. Position Summary The Authorization Coordinator is responsible for managing insurance authorizations and utilization review activities for residential and outpatient treatment services. This role works closely with clinical staff, insurance providers, and managed care organizations to support admissions, continued stay reviews, extensions, and discharge processes. What You'll Do Submit and track insurance authorizations for residential, outpatient, and case management services Complete authorization requests, extension requests, and discharge notifications within required deadlines Communicate with commercial insurance companies, managed care organizations, and DMAS by phone, email, and fax Review clinical documentation to support medical necessity and authorization requests Track approvals, denials, appeals, and peer to peer reviews Coordinate with clinical teams to obtain updated treatment and attendance information Schedule peer to peer reviews and assist with appeals when services are denied Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record Attend treatment team meetings as needed to support authorization activities Qualifications Associate degree required, Bachelor's degree preferred Experience with insurance authorizations, utilization review, healthcare administration, or behavioral health preferred Strong organizational and time management skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic health records Understanding of HIPAA and patient confidentiality requirements Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment Why Join Anderson Treatment?
