Job Summary:
This position's primary responsibility is to provide support in the day-to-day operations of the Revenue Cycle department. The Revenue Cycle Lead is responsible for coordinating the functions of the department under the oversight of the Revenue Cycle Director to ensure provider credentialing, insurance credentialing, accuracy, and efficiency within the department are maintained and met.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Assist in coordinating day-to-day operations of the billing department including new staff orientation, training, and effectively answering questions. 2. Serve as the primary contact for prior-authorization, patient registration, collections, self-pay accounts, and other billing and coding questions. Escalates questions or concerns to the RC Director as necessary. 3. Assist and resolve patient billing questions and concerns including the no-show or cancelation fees. Actively participates in the billing phone queue. 4. Completes insurance audits by accurately gathering required documentation and submitting findings in a timely manner. 5. Manages provider credentialing by working with external facilities, sending reminders, and tracking completion. 6. Manages insurance portal access for new employees and removes access when employees terminate. 7. Enrolls new provider's with insurance credentialing. 8. Works with the HR Director on the employee professional courtesy and allowance program. 9. Serves as a back-up position for employee vacations and other absences. 10. Identifies and reports concerns regarding staff professionalism, policy compliance, and patient customer service.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalency
- Minimum of 3 years experience in the medical field.
- Advanced knowledge of payer sources and the revenue cycle processes
- Intermediate knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding principles, preferred Certified Professional Coder and/or Certified Orthopaedic Surgery Coder
- Strong comprehension of payor contracts and how they affect the revenue cycle process.
- Ability to communicate effectively (both in written and verbal form) is essential.
- Proficiency with basic computer programs including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite.
- A sense of urgency and a commitment to timely completion of tasks with attention to detail along with a commitment to quality.
- Regular and timely attendance is required.

Typical physical demands:
This is a sedentary position which may involve long periods of time in front of a computer. Employee may work under stressful conditions and possibly work irregular hours. Employee may be required to lift to 20 pounds.
