$140,000 - $155,000Knowesis is seeking a Consumer Reviewer Administrative Manager to oversee the dedicated Consumer Reviewer support teams and drive meaningful consumer participation across the BRAES program. Recognizing that patient advocates are the heart of the CDMRP mission, this role develops and manages the national advocacy group sourcing pipeline, oversees layperson orientation and training, and implements "logistical empathy" protocols to ensure that consumer reviewers are fully supported and successfully integrated into scientific peer-review panels.The Job Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Design and implement overarching strategies and processes for identifying, recruiting, and vetting consumer reviewers for all research programs.
- Actively partner with and maintain a comprehensive database of national and local advocacy, support, and veteran organizations to source consumer reviewer nominations.
- Oversee and supervise Consumer Reviewer Administrators in managing all aspects of consumer participation, scheduling, and ongoing communications.
- Develop and oversee mandatory orientation and training programs designed to teach laypeople how to read grant applications, understand scoring rubrics, and navigate the peer review system.
- Ensure SROs and Panel Coordinators receive training in group facilitation to provide a safe, respectful space for consumer reviewers to participate alongside scientific experts.
- Coordinate with help desk teams to provide dedicated, "white-glove" technical support for consumer reviewers navigating the eBRAP system and proposal documents.
- Implement logistical care protocols to accommodate the specific health challenges, privacy, and environmental needs of consumer reviewers during virtual and in-person meetings.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, social work, public health, communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in patient advocacy, community outreach, volunteer management, or health communications.
- Demonstrated experience working with non-profit advocacy groups, patient populations, or veteran organizations.
- Strong empathy, emotional intelligence, and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with individuals possessing varying medical backgrounds and priorities.
- Experience developing and delivering training and orientation programs for lay audiences.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) and pass required background checks.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a related field.
- Previous experience supporting the CDMRP peer review process or similar DoD/federal consumer advocacy programs.
