Job Summary The Manager for Medical Staff Services is responsible for credentialing and privileging activities for the UT Tyler Health Science Center (UTHSC) medical staff and Advanced Practice Professionals (APPs). Duties include managing new appointments and reappointments, ensuring adherence to medical staff bylaws, rules, regulations, and policies, overseeing medical staff meeting flow and structure, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies (e.g., TJC, NCQA, CMS). The manager also assists in preparing the Medical Staff Services budget in accordance with university guidelines. Key Responsibilities Serves as essential liaison between senior management, nursing and medical staff to promote and enhance communication and positive working relationships. Ensure compliance with the accrediting and regulatory agencies (TJC, NCQA, CMS, TMB) regarding credentialing of medical staff while developing and maintaining a working knowledge of statutes and laws. Maintain a working knowledge of and writes revisions to Medical Staff Bylaws/Rules & Regulations for ongoing compliance with accrediting and regulatory agencies; develops policies and procedures to successfully implement medical staff, performance review and accreditation standards. Disseminates to appropriate parties. Responsible for daily operations of the credentialing department, including the supervision of staff. Develop, manage and monitor processes and procedures that support the credentialing, recredentialing, and provider set up process. Responsible for the medical staff meetings and information flow to various committees. Serve on medical staff and quality committees to ensure compliance with set standards. Assist in development and planning activities, as applicable, for educational and professional growth of the medical staff. Maintain credentialing software database and provide medical staff intranet information. Design and produce reports from the Cactus Symplr Provider database responsive to requests for information. Adhere to HIPAA guidelines and Personal Sensitive Information policy and maintains confidentiality of all files, correspondence, quality files, peer review activities, and special projects. Understand the basis for confidentiality of medical staff matters and appropriately apply levels of security to requests for information. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education/Experience Bachelor's degree in related field. Four (4) years of related experience. May accept a combination of education and experience.
