- EPIC Position Overview This position is within the Referrals Division and provides administrative and clerical support to physician offices.
The Medical Referral Specialist is responsible for processing internal and external referrals, obtaining insurance authorizations, and coordinating with medical offices and insurance companies to ensure referral requests are processed accurately and in a timely manner. The ideal candidate will have EPIC experience , including experience working with EPIC Work Queues , and at least one year of experience in a medical office environment handling insurance authorizations. Key Responsibilities Process internal and external medical referrals accurately and efficiently. Obtain insurance authorizations and verify referral requirements. Work within EPIC Work Queues to manage and process referral-related tasks. Communicate with internal departments, external medical offices, providers, and insurance companies regarding referrals and authorizations. Scan, fax, upload, and maintain referral-related documentation. Prepare and maintain accurate patient and referral records. Respond to written and electronic correspondence related to referrals. Answer and manage calls through a multi-line phone system. Ensure referral requests are processed within established timelines. Follow all organizational compliance requirements, policies, procedures, and protocols. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Must have EPIC experience. Must have experience working in EPIC Work Queues. Minimum 1 year of experience working in a medical office with responsibility for insurance authorizations. Strong understanding of medical referrals and insurance authorization processes. Strong communication and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Proficiency in English sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position. Interview Process Microsoft Teams interview required.
