The Standardized Patient is responsible for simulating healthcare scenarios by portraying the characteristics of a real patient. They promote a realistic environment that allows learners to engage in hands-on interaction with clients and an opportunity to build confidence and competence in essential skills.Duties & Responsibilities:
The position is responsible for the following: Simulate all aspects of healthcare clients, including history of current illness, symptoms, dialogue, and behaviors in accordance with the simulation objectives. Participate in limited aspects of a physical assessments such as obtaining blood pressures, checking pulses, and listening to heart and lung sounds. Willingness to wear make-up or moulage. Provide constructive feedback to learners during simulation debrief. Maintain professionalism and excellent communication skills while interacting with learners and faculty. Collaborate with the simulation team and course faculty regarding scenario improvements. Flexibility and reliability regarding scheduling and assignments.Competencies/KSAs:
Basic knowledge in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology. Commitment to utilizing simulation methodology in learning and its ability to transform healthcare education. Proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Excellent organizational skills and ability to think logically and follow directions. Creativity and flexibility in designing innovative approaches to solving problems. Demonstrated excellent verbal, written and electronic communication skills. Demonstrated ability to excel independently and as a team member in a collaborative environment. Strong interpersonal skills and positive energy regarding professional education.Minimum Qualifications:
Completed High School Diploma or completed GED ($17 per hour) OR completed associate degree with two years of professional level experience similar to the role ($19 per hour) OR completed bachelor degree ($20 to $22 per hour) Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend complex information, retain detailed instructions, and accurately follow established procedures. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with a variety of individuals. Dependable, detail-oriented, punctual, and able to maintain a flexible schedule to meet program needs.Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience as an actor, standardized patient, or in a role requiring realistic scenario-based interactions. Professional experience, education, or certification in a healthcare-related field. Ability to observe and evaluate student performance accurately while providing constructive and supportive feedback. Proficiency with basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite programs.Selection Process:
