Froedtert & The Medical College of Wisconsin is offering 1 comprehensive fourth year placements for Doctor of Audiology (AuD) students.
This AuD externship is:
A one year placement with the adult population and consists of four rotations. Rotation 1: Diagnostic Audiology (25%) Rotation 2: Amplification and Aural Rehabilitation (25%) Rotation 3: Cochlear Implant (25%) Rotation 4: Cumulative Experience - you pick what you want more experience with (25%) Each rotations lasts approximately twelve weeks. However, if it is determined by the supervising audiologists that additional time is needed in a specific rotation, additional time will be scheduled accordingly. This externship is 100% at Froedtert Hospital Main Campus (9200 W. Wisconsin Ave. Milwaukee, WI 53226) Students who complete our 4th positions are highly sought out candidates for jobs following their externships. Please note these rotations are subject to change based on individual student experience and education, as well as contract between Froedtert Hospital, the Medical College of Wisconsin, and the student's university. Yes Externship site expects the extern to have mastered these skills before they begin their clinical externship: Applicants should have a diverse range of clinical practicum experiences and should be comfortable with basic audiometric testing and history taking. Basic understanding of hearing aids. Demonstrate good communication skills. Students should have a high level of motivation, professionalism and willingness to learn. Externship site expects the extern to learn/demonstrate these skills during their clinical externship: Over the course of the year, we expect the extern to become proficient and independent at performance of comprehensive hearing and vestibular assessments. Competent in hearing aid selection/evaluation, consultation, dispensing/fitting, verification and validation, troubleshooting and programming. Additionally, the student will gain confidence in tinnitus evaluation and basic tinnitus management and counseling and evoked potentials (VEMP, ABR, ASSR). Student will gain confidence is cochlear implant testing, evaluations, activations and management.
