The only nonprofit organization of our kind in Wisconsin, each year HEAR Wisconsin provides critical services to thousands of individuals through its early intervention services, vocational rehabilitation services, assistive technology center, state-of-the-art audiology clinic and mobile unit. HEAR Wisconsin is dedicated to ensuring children and adults who are d/Deaf or hard of hearing can communicate, connect, and fully participate in the world around them.
Position Summary:
The Audiology Technician works under the direction and supervision of the audiologists to support the daily operations of the Audiology Clinic. This role assists with hearing aid and amplification device management, maintains clinic and laboratory inventory, supports device ordering and preparation, and provides patient-facing technical assistance. Key responsibilities include receiving and managing incoming hearing aids and amplification devices, assisting with drop-off repairs, performing basic troubleshooting and maintenance, preparing devices for fittings and appointments, coordinating outside repairs and laboratory orders, and ensuring that laboratory supplies and equipment are organized and adequately stocked. The Audiology Technician may also assist patients with hearing aid troubleshooting, repairs, connectivity, and general device questions. The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, professional, and customer-service oriented. They must be able to communicate effectively with patients and staff, manage multiple priorities, and work efficiently in a busy hearing healthcare environment. The Audiology Technician plays an important role in supporting the audiology team and ensuring efficient, high-quality clinic operations. Responsibilities Receives and manages incoming hearing aids, earmolds, and other amplification devices requiring troubleshooting, repair, or manufacturer service. Performs basic troubleshooting of hearing aids, earmolds, and other amplification devices. Cleans hearing aids and earmolds and performs minor repairs as appropriate. Assists patients with hearing aid use, basic troubleshooting, and cell phone/Bluetooth connectivity issues. Coordinates outside hearing aid and earmold orders, device repairs, and manufacturer/laboratory returns. Assists with ordering, receiving, and preparing hearing aids, earmolds, supplies, and other audiology equipment. Maintains inventory of department supplies, hearing aid materials, and other audiology equipment. Identifies patient education needs and provides appropriate instruction related to hearing aids and amplification devices. Demonstrates alerting devices, assistive listening devices, and other amplification technology. Assists audiologists with patient treatment programs and clinical activities. Maintains and restocks audiology test and treatment rooms. Performs routine equipment maintenance and biological checks. Provides professional and courteous customer service to patients, families, and members of the audiology team. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of Audiology Clinic operations. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree or relevant post-secondary education preferred. Minimum of one year of experience working with hearing aids, amplification devices, or in an audiology or hearing healthcare setting preferred. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and work effectively in a busy clinical environment. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Commitment to contributing positively to the practice, team, patients, families, and community. Ability to interact professionally and effectively with patients, families, physicians, audiologists, and other team members. Strong computer skills, with experience using electronic health records and other clinical software preferred Expected hours: 40.0 per week
