Seeking Lab Assistant / Histotechnician for a lab located in Temp, AZ. The responsibilities will be performing duties from triaging the specimens to accessioning, grossing, embedding, microtomy and staining. Stocks and maintains supplies and performs other duties as assigned. The following list describes comprehensive list of duties or overseeing the tasks performed in this lab. Receiving and sorting specimens in the department, preparing specimens for send-out. Maintains files for proper record keeping Able to operate PCs Ensure proper accessioning and labeling of all tissue samples Perform gross tissue examination and tissue processing (requires Bachelor's in science) Embed and cuts the embedded tissue (can be trained on site) Prepare slides for routine Hematoxylin and Eosin staining. Perform cover slipping of stained slides either manually or automated Performs laboratory tasks of centrifuging specimens and preparation of cytology slides Performs routine instrument maintenance on equipment including cleaning and recording of data (temperature charts) Perform filing of finished blocks and slides Decontaminates and maintains a clean and well-organized work area. Preparing and validating reagents as needed. Disposes off biohazardous material in the proper manner. Follows all PPE requirements and all safety regulations. Assists with the department quality improvement. Work independently with minimal supervision Qualification High School Diploma or GED required. HT equivalent training and experience. Bachelor's in Biological science, rest can be trained on site. HT certification or eligible. Cytology experience a plus.
