Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Histology Technologist. In this engaging position of Quantitative Pathology you will be responsible for the implementation and testing of cancer specimens using quantitative image analysis of Immunohistochemical (IHC) stained slides and In-situ Hybridization (ISH/FISH). Testing is performed using automated IHC staining instruments, IHC scanning and quantitation instruments, and FISH hybridization and scanning instruments. Opportunities to perform histology for our electron microscopy and molecular sections, and some grossing are expected. Duties Performs all processes to prepare tissues for histological and transmission electron microscopy; diagnostic evaluation including accessioning, appropriate labeling of requisitions and specimen containers, printing cassettes, fixation, preparing packing list for transportation to the histology laboratory, and subsequent discarding of surgical specimens Identify and acquire paraffin tissue blocks required for molecular testing and use these blocks to obtain an adequate amount of DNA/RNA for molecular testing. Ensure sample integrity for assays such as NGS, Fusions, and IGH arrangements. Responsible for communications with physicians regarding testing. Perform quality control, quality assurance and proficiency testing. Participate in assay/instrument validations and Quality Initiatives. Perform processing and specialized techniques on muscle, nerve, and medical kidney specimens. Perform staining, IHC & Immunofluorescence, on these specimens. Complete accurate and timely gross examination and dictation of anatomic pathology specimens. Cassette printing, bottle identification, and case number designation Skills Proven clinical laboratory experience with a focus on histotechnology or pathology laboratories Strong knowledge of laboratory tissue sample preparation, sectioning, staining, and immunohistochemistry techniques Familiarity with laboratory procedures including specimen collection, processing, and handling of medical laboratory equipment Understanding of pathology concepts, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to histology work Experience working within hospital or clinical environments following CLIA regulations and safety standards Proficiency with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) for data entry, tracking samples, and reporting results Skilled in laboratory tissue sectioning, immunological techniques, and aseptic methods to prevent contamination Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced setting Excellent communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including pathologists and research scientists Embark on a rewarding career where your technical expertise directly supports patient outcomes and scientific progress.
