Overview We are seeking an experienced Histotechnologist to join our pathology department. This is a full time (Monday-Thursday) position, currently located in the Braselton/Buford area and relocating to Gainesville, GA in June 2027. Our laboratory is a small, collaborative team focused on producing consistent, high-quality work and providing excellent patient care. Summary Performs routine and non-routine activities involved in the preparation of slides for microscopic evaluation by pathologist(s), according to policies and procedures. Essential Functions Ensure accurate accessioning, identification, and labeling of all specimens. Complete documentation associated with specimen accessioning, processing, and reporting. Perform gross examination of tissue specimens when qualified under applicable CLIA requirements and laboratory policy. Perform routine tissue processing and maintain tissue-processing equipment. Embed GI biopsy and polypectomy specimens in paraffin. Perform microtomy of paraffin-embedded tissue, producing high-quality sections suitable for microscopic evaluation. Prepare slides for routine H&E, special stains, and immunohistochemical (IHC) staining. Perform manual and/or automated coverslipping of stained slides. Prepare reagents and solutions used in histology and special stain procedures. Perform special stains and obtain, prepare, and validate appropriate control tissue as needed. Perform routine quality control activities and accurately maintain required QC documentation. Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment. File and maintain completed blocks and slides according to laboratory procedures. Maintain an organized workflow, prioritize assigned work, and complete daily responsibilities accurately and efficiently with minimal supervision. Identify problems or discrepancies and take appropriate action or communicate concerns promptly Follow all laboratory policies, procedures, safety requirements, and regulatory standards. Work collaboratively with other laboratory staff to ensure timely completion of patient cases and continuity of workflow. Skills and Qualifications Strong working knowledge of histology techniques, procedure and laboratory practices. Able to work independently, remain on task, and manage daily responsibilities with minimal supervision. Dependable and accountable, with the ability to follow tasks through to completion. Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and quality. Critical thinking, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills. Able to prioritize workload and adapt to changing laboratory needs Works well as a part of a small team and is willing to assist where needed. Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, and good judgement. Strong commitment to excellent patient care, recognizing that accuracy, quality, and timely completion of laboratory work directly impact patient outcomes. Education and Experience Associate's or bachelor's degree in a biological science or equivalent education and experience meeting applicable CLIA requirements. HT or HTL (ASCP) certification Three or more years of relevant Histology experience Experience in a high-complexity laboratory setting preferred.
