Mohs Histotechnician Job Summary:
The Mohs Histotechnician position will focus on preparing high-quality frozen sections of surgical tissue for examination by our Mohs surgeon.
Principal Duties:
Daily laboratory setup and close down procedures including cleaning the cryostat and stainer. Accurately identifies each patient specimen and accurately accessions into the EMR/Case Log System Proficiently operates the cryostat, freezing and cutting tissue, and follows troubleshooting procedures to correct deficiencies or problems as they occur Prepares microscopic slides for diagnostic purposes Performs stains, including special stains/immunohistochemical on frozens (mentor available to assist), to assist in diagnosis Reviews quality control, performs operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of histology instruments and equipment Maintenance of all equipment: cryostat, automated stainer, & microscope Keep laboratory logs up-to-date and in compliance with CLIA Follows procedures and refers to procedure manuals for proper instructions Oversees and maintains a CLIA, HIPPA, OSHA, and other regulatory agency compliant environment Order and maintain lab and clinical medical supplies Candidates should be organized, dependable and team oriented Performs daily cleaning of lab and equipment Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining communication with lab director Other duties as assigned •
Physical Demands:
Significant amount of walking, stooping, bending, assisting patients, data entry (typing), and some heavy lifting may be required (up to 50 lbs.).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Prior experience as Mohs Histotech, preparing and cutting Mohs frozen sections • Please do not apply if you have no experience with frozen sections

Idaho Skin Surgery Center, PC (ISSC), is a busy surgical dermatology office in Boise, Idaho, that strives to provide a comfortable and welcoming environment for all of its employees. Lab and clinical personnel may be exposed to certain hazardous chemicals and biological specimens, however, ISSC maintains strict protocols and limits exposure to these agents. We offer very competitive wages, in addition to full medical, dental, and vision insurance as well as participation in our 401k, profit sharing and Cash balance plans.
Work Remotely No Pay:
$25.00 - $28.00 per hour
