Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Histotechnician / Histology Laboratory Technician to join the pathology laboratory team. This role is responsible for performing histological procedures using both manual and automated techniques to prepare high quality pathology slides for review by Pathologists. The ideal candidate should have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and experience working with tissue specimens, staining procedures, and laboratory quality control. Key Responsibilities Perform embedding and sectioning of tissue blocks according to established protocols. Prepare and evaluate routine H&E stains and correct inconsistencies when identified. Perform special stains and evaluate results, including appropriate positive controls. Perform immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining , including evaluation of positive and negative controls. Ensure accuracy and quality throughout the pre analytic, analytic, and post analytic testing processes. Follow established laboratory procedures, quality control standards, and safety protocols. Maintain accurate records for testing, quality control, equipment maintenance, and corrective actions. Identify and escalate issues involving specimens, equipment, or testing to the appropriate supervisor and Pathologist. Participate in laboratory validations, proficiency testing, competency assessments, inspections, and audits. Assist with inventory management, including monitoring lot numbers, expiration dates, labeling, and QC requirements. Maintain compliance with CAP, NYSDOH, CLIA, AABB, and Joint Commission requirements as applicable. Complete required continuing education, annual training, and in-services. Maintain a high level of accuracy while working with fine details and handling multiple tasks.

Pay:

$32.51 - $48.76 per hour
