Category Laboratory - Histology Job Type Direct Hire Step into a vital role preparing tissue specimens for microscopic examinations and specialized histo- and immunocyto-chemistry testing within the Department of Anatomic Pathology. This direct hire position is open on all shifts with an increased demand for second and third shift professionals. Shift hours may vary, and shift differentials are available: $3 for second shift and $3.50 for third shift, provided a minimum of four hours are worked within the qualifying shift window. Those with experience in Histology or as a Histology Technician are especially encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

Complete daily workload of embedding, cutting, staining, and other specialized procedures to support patient diagnoses, including stat requests in a high-volume environment. Handle and process specimens for molecular testing, ensuring proper documentation and troubleshooting as necessary. Maintain and document instrument performance and quality control records to support laboratory integrity. Provide training, guidance, and support to other Histotechnologists and Histotechnicians to ensure consistency and accuracy. Grossly identify tissue for adequacy during operations, collaborate with attending staff, and ensure samples are appropriately divided and preserved. Additional tasks may be assigned to support the department's workflow.

Desired Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field required. At least one year of applicable work experience. Certification as a Histotechnician or Histotechnologist by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). Excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and comfort with high-volume workloads.
