Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support an individual with a physical and/or mental disability while engaging in activities in the community. This role will involve going to locations (gym, park, shopping, etc.) with the client. The ideal candidate will have personal or professional experience working with people in diverse populations, including those with developmental disabilities and autism, or a willingness to learn. As a DSP, you will provide support and assistance to clients and help them achieve goals related to social activities and life skills to maximize independence, and provide respect and dignity in all situations. Hours Hours are flexible; however, our current need is for hours that fall during the day. Work Environment Care is often provided in the client's homes, and many of our clients have pets, including large dogs and cats. Please specify if you have allergies. Duties The role of a Direct Support Professional (DSP) is made up of several sub-categories of jobs. Each category is associated with an independent hourly rate of pay. A DSP may perform some or all of these jobs based on the needs of the individual client.
These jobs include:
Day Habilitation Service Provider- Responsible for providing community-based/out-of-home support and assistance in achieving goals related to social activities and life skills. In-Home Support/Supported Living Provider
- Provides support and assistance to individuals in acquiring, retaining, and improving self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills necessary to enhance independence and live successfully in their own homes. Chore Service Provider
- The Chore Services Provider is primarily responsible for directly assisting clients with household tasks to help maintain a clean, safe, and healthy living environment. Respite Provider
- The Respite provider has the primary responsibility to offer temporary relief to the primary caregiver of an Easterseals Alaska individual client. VA Home Health Aide
- Hands-on care for Veterans in their home.
