Job Description

REACH, Inc. is currently seeking compassionate, reliable, and independent individuals to join our team as Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in a 24-hour/shift residential support role. This position focuses on providing personalized support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities within their homes, helping them maintain independence, build daily living skills, and enjoy meaningful experiences in their communities. What began as a small, family-led initiative became an official nonprofit in 1978 and has grown into a trusted provider of services across Southeast Alaska. REACH honors and respects the people we serve by promoting choice and well-being through advocacy and services. A Day in the Life of a DSP As a 24-Hour Residential Support DSP, you will provide support in an individual's home throughout your shift, helping create a safe, comfortable, and positive living environment. Responsibilities vary based on the individual's needs but may include: Assisting with daily living activities and household routines Promoting independence and personal choice Preparing meals and supporting healthy living habits Assisting with transportation to appointments, community activities, work, or recreational events Supporting participation in community life and personal goals Maintaining a safe and well-organized home environment Completing required documentation and following Individual Service Plans (ISPs) Responding to support needs that may arise during the shift This role allows you to make a meaningful impact through consistent, relationship-based support while helping individuals live successfully in their own homes. Sleep time is available during designated overnight hours when appropriate for the individual's support needs. Available Schedule 24-hour residential support shifts Full time and Part time available Who We Are Looking For 18 years of age or older High school diploma or equivalent Compassionate, dependable, and respectful Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and make sound decisions Moderate computer skills Ability to maintain professional boundaries while building positive relationships Work Environment & Physical Requirements Work primarily takes place in an individual's home and community Standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds Ability to provide physical assistance when needed Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations Occasional exposure to bloodborne pathogens Driving may be required for some assignments: 21+ with 3 years driving experience Valid driver's license Current DMV report and auto insurance
