Position Overview TIDES is seeking a dependable, patient, and engaged Direct Support Professional (DSP) / Caregiver for an established one-on-one support position in Juneau. This position supports an adult living in his own home who benefits from a consistent routine, clear communication, patience, repetition, and staff who approach everyday responsibilities as a team. This is a great fit for someone who understands that good caregiving isn't about doing everything for someone—it's about working alongside them , providing encouragement, structure, hands-on assistance, and opportunities to remain active and involved in their own life. The position includes both in-home support and active participation in the Juneau community. What a Typical Shift May Include As a DSP, you will: Support daily routines, personal hygiene, grooming, and other activities of daily living. Assist with medication routines according to TIDES training and procedures. Work alongside the individual on household responsibilities, including cleaning, laundry, organization, and maintaining his home. Plan and prepare meals together while supporting healthy choices and kitchen safety. Assist with shopping, errands, appointments, transportation, and community activities. Help plan activities and break everyday tasks into manageable steps. Encourage independence, communication, choice-making, and self-advocacy. Support safety at home and while accessing the community. Complete required service documentation accurately and on time. What We're Looking For This is an active, one-on-one DSP position for someone who enjoys building a genuine working relationship with the person they support. A typical shift includes both in-home support and getting out into the Juneau community—not simply remaining in the home waiting to be needed. Activities may include going to the gym or indoor track, walking, bowling, shopping and errands, attending community events, outdoor recreation, hobbies, and other activities based on the individual's interests and choices.

The right DSP will be:

Patient and dependable — comfortable providing reminders, repetition, and hands-on assistance without becoming frustrated or rushing. Engaged and active — willing to participate in activities, get out into the community, and help create a meaningful and productive day. Calm and respectful — able to communicate clearly, give someone time to process, and provide guidance or redirection when needed. Team-oriented — understands that successful support often means working alongside someone on household tasks, meals, routines, and goals rather than simply doing everything for them. Comfortable with direct care — willing to assist with personal hygiene, daily living skills, medication routines, meal preparation, household responsibilities, and community safety. Consistent and reliable — able to follow established routines and care plans and understand how important consistency is when building trust. Experience in caregiving, disability services, behavioral health, healthcare, education, or human services is helpful, but the right personality, reliability, and willingness to learn are equally important. Minimum Requirements Must be at least 18 years old. Must meet State of Alaska background check requirements. Valid driver's license with a good driving record. Reliable vehicle with current registration and insurance. Ability and willingness to transport an individual throughout the Juneau community. Ability to provide personal and professional references. Ability to complete required TIDES and State of Alaska training. Dependable attendance and ability to commit to scheduled 24-hour shifts.
