is a locally owned home and community-based Medicaid service provider supporting children and adults who experience intellectual and developmental disabilities. For more than a decade, TIDES has focused on providing individualized, person-centered services that promote independence, self-direction, and meaningful participation in the Juneau community. TIDES is seeking an experienced Direct Support Professional or caregiver who is ready to take on a more independent and advanced role within direct care. This position is designed for a strong, experienced caregiver who enjoys working directly with people but is also comfortable taking responsibility for communication, coordination, documentation, and follow-through . This position will work with a variety of individuals with different abilities and support needs and may serve as the primary staff and point of communication for one or more individuals. We are looking for someone who can move confidently between different service environments, learn individual needs, work independently, and help keep services organized and moving forward. About the Role & Who We're Looking For This is a hands-on direct support position with additional leadership and service coordination responsibilities. We are looking for an experienced DSP or caregiver who is comfortable working independently, taking initiative, and becoming a trusted point person for the individuals they support. Unlike a position assigned to only one individual or one set schedule, this role requires the ability to work with multiple individuals with different abilities, communication styles, levels of independence, and support needs. The right person should be comfortable transitioning between individuals and service environments while keeping track of different priorities and responsibilities.

Responsibilities include:

Provide direct, person-centered support in individuals' homes and throughout the community. Work with individuals with varying levels of independence, communication, decision-making abilities, and support needs. Serve as a primary staff member and point of communication for assigned individuals, helping coordinate day-to-day services and needs. Support individuals in directing their own services, making choices, communicating preferences, and working toward greater independence. Maintain regular communication and follow-through with families, guardians, DSPs, Service Managers, and other professionals. Coordinate appointments, activities, household needs, schedules, and other day-to-day responsibilities as appropriate. Maintain accurate service documentation and help ensure required records and tracking are completed. Recognize changes, concerns, or unmet needs and take initiative to communicate and follow through with the appropriate team members. Support and mentor other DSPs working with assigned individuals. Provide personal care, medication assistance, community support, skill development, and other hands-on services based on each individual's Plan of Care. Use good judgment, problem-solving, and flexibility when needs or situations change. The right candidate will be organized, self-directed, dependable, and a strong communicator who enjoys both caregiving and taking on additional responsibility. They should be comfortable managing the needs of more than one individual, working with people who require different levels and types of support, and helping keep services coordinated while maintaining a person-centered and self-directed approach. Qualifications & Requirements Previous professional DSP, caregiving, human services, disability services, or related experience strongly preferred. Experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities is preferred. Strong communication, organization, documentation, and time-management skills. Ability to work independently, take initiative, problem-solve, and follow through on responsibilities. Comfortable using technology for documentation, communication, and scheduling. Must be at least 18 years old. Must meet State of Alaska background and fingerprint clearance requirements. Valid driver's license and good driving record required. Reliable vehicle and current auto insurance required. CPR and First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire. Must be comfortable providing hands-on assistance based on the individual needs of the people supported. Schedule & Pay Full-Time | $24.00-$30.00+ per hour, depending on experience This position requires flexibility in scheduling. Hours will be developed around the needs of the individuals supported and may include a combination of daytime, evening, weekend, or other direct-care hours. We are specifically seeking someone who enjoys variety and flexibility and is comfortable working with different individuals rather than being assigned to the exact same person and schedule every week.
