Job Overview We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide exceptional care and assistance to individuals with diverse needs, including developmental disabilities, Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and other health conditions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to promoting independence, safety, and well-being while fostering a respectful and supportive environment. Duties Assist individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support. Monitor patients' vital signs and observe for any changes in health status, ensuring timely communication with healthcare teams. Administer medications following prescribed care plans while adhering to HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality. Prepare nutritious meals and assist with cooking, ensuring dietary restrictions and preferences are respected. Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts and ensure proper use for patient safety during transfers. Maintain a clean, safe, and organized living environment by performing regular cleaning and sanitation tasks. Document care activities accurately in compliance with healthcare standards and facility policies. Provide emotional support and companionship to residents, fostering a positive atmosphere that encourages independence and dignity. Qualifications Previous experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly desirable. Knowledge of patient care techniques including CPR, first aid, medication administration, and vital sign monitoring. Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, Alzheimer's disease, or dementia is preferred. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts effectively. Strong observational skills for patient monitoring and recognizing signs of distress or health deterioration. Familiarity with care plans, HIPAA regulations, and documentation standards in healthcare settings. Compassionate attitude with excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and residents' families.
