We're looking for a compassionate and easy going IDD Direct Support Professional / Personal Assistant. We have a unique care program out of the client's home which allows for a completely personalized experience. We are committed to autism affirming practices. This program is through Self Determination! In this role, you will provide direct care and support a 26 year old man with autism, intellectual disability and aggressive behaviors. You will be in home and in the community. You will be trained on this individuals needs, ways to build rapport, communication styles and more. Responsibilities Assist client with "activities of daily living" such as meal prep, hygiene, fun activities and more Facilitate participation in community outings, recreational activities and more Implement behavior management techniques per instructions and antecedent management strategies to promote positive interactions and reduce challenging behaviors Creating a meaningful connection Follow and maintain a safe environment by adhering to safety protocols Maintain accurate documentation of client progress, incidents, and care routines in compliance with organizational policies Uphold the client's rights by respecting their preferences, privacy, and dignity at all times Skills Prior experience in disability care for adults is a requirement Strong knowledge of autism, intellectual disability and aggressive behaviors (CPI is a plus!) Ability to attune to a client's needs that may not always be clearly communicated, awareness of body language and posturing A quiet, calm and relaxed presence Willingness to collaborate with the clients behavioral care team, family and others Openness to feedback while learning and willingness to ask questions Ability to perform manual handling tasks safely and effectively, including heavy lifting when necessary Excellent communication skills for engaging with the client, their family, and team members clearly and compassionately Knowledge of resident's rights laws and ethical caregiving standards to ensure respectful treatment at all times Requirements Drivers license Reliable transport to El Dorado Hills Physical ability to avid potential aggression Pass a Livescan background check BLS/CPR certification Benefits Must work 35 hours minimum to qualify for benefits Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, ect. Though Cambrian Financial Management Services More About the Client This individual has complex behavioral needs that are being addressed by a behavioral team. He also struggles with auditory processing and approxia so he prefers fewer words when he's communicated with. Too many words or questions can be overwhelming. He uses some single words to communicate needs but we are working on regaining some communication skills that have regressed. He enjoys his own space but seeks interaction with those he trusts. He enjoys parallel play actives, baking, bird watching, gardening and more. Interests also include trains, sharks and rainbows.

Pay:

$28.00 - $30.00 per hour
