Duties Provide direct support to individuals with disabilities, assisting with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication administration, and mobility needs. Support clients in developing life skills through behavioral health strategies and positive reinforcement techniques. Assist with community outings, appointments, and transportation using personal or agency-provided vehicles while ensuring safety and adherence to traffic laws. Implement behavior management plans tailored to each individual's needs, including de-escalation techniques and data collection for progress tracking. Communicate effectively with clients using various methods including American Sign Language if applicable, ensuring their needs are understood and respected. Document client progress accurately through detailed reports and maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements. Collaborate closely with families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans and support services. Experience Prior experience working with individuals with autism, neurodevelopmental disorders, or developmental disabilities is highly preferred. Knowledge of special education principles and behavioral health practices enhances your ability to support clients effectively. Experience in home & community care environments demonstrating caregiving skills and client-centered approaches. Familiarity with medication administration, first aid, CPR certification, and data collection methods ensures safety and quality care delivery. Strong communication skills—both verbal and non-verbal—are essential for building trusting relationships with clients and team members. Previous work supporting patients with cognitive disabilities or intellectual disabilities supports your success in this role. Ability to operate standard passenger cars safely for client transportation purposes is required.
