Position Summary This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Orange Coast Medical Center. The employee shall support Orange Coast Medical Center's strategic plan and participate in and advocate performance improvement/patient safety activities. The Perioperative Patient Care Assistant is an unlicensed caregiver working under the direction of the Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse. This position performs tasks as assigned and is instrumental in facilitating departmental/unit flow activities that support patient care and facilitate a safe, clean environment in the perioperative departments. The position collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to ensure safe and effective patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. This position performs a variety of housekeeping duties in order to maintain the department in a neat, orderly and sanitary manner; including cleans and moves furniture, equipment and uses proper cleaning supplies according to established policies Essential Functions and Responsibilities of the Job List of broad job specific functions. 1. Demonstrates the ability to safely and competently perform assigned duties. 2. Follows directions and communicates with the Registered Nurse and other members of the Healthcare Team in an organized, clear and timely manner. 3. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights. Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial and other sensitive material in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients and or employees. 4. Demonstrates the ability to use good customer service skills by managing and acknowledging patient-family-significant other expectations. 5. Demonstrates tact, sensitivity and discretion. 6. Demonstrates the ability to integrate knowledge of job specific competencies. 7. Demonstrates knowledge of cleaning policies and adheres to all manufacturer recommendations for cleaning of equipment. 8. Demonstrates proper body mechanics when moving patient stretchers, specialty beds, equipment and furniture. 9. Demonstrates the ability to transport patients safely and is able to correctly identify patients. 10. Ability to be at work and be on time. 11. Ability to follow company policies, procedures and directives. 12. Ability to interact in a positive and constructive manner. 13. Ability to prioritize and multitask. Placement in the pay range is based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, relevant years of experience and qualifications. In addition to base pay, there may be additional compensation available for this role, including but not limited to, shift differentials, extra shift incentives, and bonus opportunities. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Qualifications/Work Experience:
Basic computer knowledge preferred Minimum of one (1) years of recent Acute Care experience preferred Ability to fulfill the on-call requirement of the department
Education/Licensure/Certification:
High School Diploma or GED preferred Current American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support Card required
