Overview A Direct Support Professional provides direct care, supervision, and daily living support to individuals with developmental disabilities within their private residence.. The role focuses on promoting independence, safety, dignity, and quality of life while assisting individuals with their personal goals, routines, and community participation. Direct Support Professional support individuals in maintaining a structured and positive living environment by assisting with daily activities, social development, behavioral support, and life skills instruction. Staff work closely with individuals to encourage independence while ensuring their health, safety, and emotional well-being. Responsibilities Essential Responsibilities Assist individuals with daily living activities including cooking, cleaning, hygiene, laundry, and personal care Support individuals with developing independence and life skills Provide supervision and ensure participant safety at all times Implement individualized support plans and behavior support strategies Assist individuals with medication administration as trained and authorized Transport and accompany individuals to community outings, appointments, recreational activities, and programs Encourage social interaction, communication skills, and community inclusion Maintain accurate daily documentation, progress notes, and incident reports Support positive behaviors using person-centered approaches Assist with meal preparation and maintaining a clean, organized home environment Communicate professionally with supervisors, families, and interdisciplinary team members Respond appropriately during emergencies and behavioral situations Skills and Qualifications Compassionate, patient, and dependable Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to support individuals with varying levels of needs and behaviors Knowledge of developmental disabilities and person-centered practices preferred Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism Basic computer and documentation skills Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred CPR/First Aid certification Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Ability to pass background/ drug clearance requirements Schedule Part-Time Friday and Saturday 11:30PM-8:00AM Saturday and Sunday 8:00 AM-4:00 PM or 4:00 PM-11:30 PM Our agency is committed to providing compassionate, person-centered support that promotes independence, inclusion, dignity, and empowerment for individuals with developmental disabilities.
