Coach:
Primary Function :
A Coach provides direct support and care for a client with developmental and/or physical disabilities. This position supports and fosters client choice. The Coach will teach daily activities such as vocational, social, and life skills to promote independent living. The ratio is 2:1 (subject to program priorities and the coach must be an organized, flexible, detail-oriented, and dependable individual, who is willing to assist with activities of daily living including self-care and toileting with support from LVN or other staff. The 2:1 Coach reports directly to the Partial Community Program Manager.
Schedule:
This is a part-time position, Monday through Friday from 8:30am
  • 2:30pm.
Full time options are available contact the HR department if desired. All coaches are required to also attend an additional weekly one-hour team meeting/training, and one hour for curriculum writing.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
Having dexterity of hands and fingers to operate standard office and computer equipment Sitting or standing for extended periods of time Bending at the waist, kneeling, or crouching to assist client Reaching overhead, above the shoulders, and horizontally Working in indoor and outdoor environments, as well as traveling Assists in the administration and monitoring of medications. Provides personal care for clients which may include assistance with eating, personal hygiene, showering, restroom assistance. Assists and/or prepares meals in compliance with dietary restrictions; assists individuals to eat, including those who may require assistance with G-tube feeding. Ability to provide assistance with personal care to clients and to transfer an individual who has no weight bearing skills. Ability to lift up to 70 pounds repetitively. Ability to walk, stand, stoop, and kneel for extended periods of time. Ability to push/pull wheelchairs on a variety of terrain.
Essential Responsibilities:
Conducts daily activities to assist in the development of living skills, consistent with the residents' Individual Program Plan (IPP) and Individual Support Plan (ISP) goals Maintaining visual contact with the client at all times, including when the client is using the restroom facilities, if they require assistance Providing instruction and assistance to the client during their activities Engaging in interactive conversations with the client that encourages opportunities for growth in defining, developing and implementing the client's goals Keeping cell phones on and within reach throughout club time to be able to receive communication from the administrative team (Cell phones should only be used for ICAN use during work hours) Maintaining all required client documentation by completing case notes before the end of your shift. Case notes must be submitted with correct grammar and spelling, or they may be returned. Case notes should take an average of ten minutes per client Cleaning all spaces used by staff and client before leaving for the day Reporting any unusual incidents, concerning behavior, or suspected abuse to the program manager or assistant manager immediately As directed, driving company vehicles to transport client to club locations, which also requires use of defensive driving techniques and staying focused on the road at all times Maintaining secure possession of ICAN cash allowances, company credit cards, and copies of receipts for all purchases, to be turned in at the end of the day Participating in the preparing and executing of the weekly schedule of activities and lesson plans Participating in team meetings as directed Writing the lesson plans for the activities of multiple clubs in the ICAN Partial Community Program by given schedules and deadlines. These activities should provide experience with everyday living skills according to each client's program goals and objectives Providing positive role modeling to the client and the ICAN community Maintaining positive and cooperative working relationships with the client, guardians, coworkers and ICAN staff Optional Tailored Day Services coaching: Working one-on-one with an individual client to develop and support individual goals to maximize the client community integration, employment, volunteer activities, and/or pursue post-secondary education
