Job Description

Overview Join our dedicated team as a Direct Support Professional and make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities, aging needs, or health challenges. In this vital role, you will provide compassionate, personalized care that promotes independence, safety, and well-being. Whether supporting residents in group homes, assisted living facilities, or through home and community care services, your efforts will empower individuals to thrive in a nurturing environment. This paid position offers a rewarding opportunity to develop your caregiving skills while fostering positive relationships and community engagement. Duties Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts when necessary Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes promptly to healthcare teams Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance Prepare nutritious meals aligned with dietary needs and assist with meal service to promote healthy eating habits Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing regular cleaning duties in accordance with health standards Support residents' participation in social activities and community outings to foster engagement and independence Document care activities accurately in compliance with HIPAA privacy standards and facility protocols Qualifications Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring Certification or training in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as Alzheimer's care, dementia care, or hospice care are advantageous Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or memory-related conditions such as dementia or Alzheimer's disease Ability to lift heavy objects safely and assist residents with mobility using equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident's (personal assistance devices) Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and families while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines Compassionate attitude with patience for working with diverse populations across different care settings Join us in providing exceptional support that enhances lives!
