We're located in
Orange County, CA:
LaHabra and Westminster. The position is for a Direct Support Professional (DSP), requiring much patience, dedication, and unyielding passion for this community. Duties include, but are not limited to (depending on the shift): Assistance with ADLs. Facilitating outdoor community activities, to encourage improved quality of life (i.e. trips to beach, park, library, movies, malls, stores, dances, and other fun, creative activities). Providing transportation to appointments, outings, and other community activities. Escorting to medical or dental appointments. Re-directing and de-escalating potential behaviors. Personal hygiene and self-care support (i.e. hair, teeth, dressing, showering, etc.). Teaching life skills. Ensuring safety (outdoors, crossing the street, etc.). Administering medications (once trained). Documenting daily observations, behaviors, successes, medication compliance, etc. Assisting with light housekeeping, meal preparation, and running errands as needed. Cooking (as determined) The DSP position immediately answers to House Manager and Administrator. DSP requires an individual is highly motivated, passionate about those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Requires self-initiative, positive attitude, discipline, attention to detail, effective communication; and necessitates being a team-player, able to communicate effectively. Certain aspects of the job require training and ongoing continuing education.
