The Arc of Southington is seeking compassionate, dependable and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our team. DSPs support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in living meaningful, active and independent lives in their homes and communities. As a DSP, you will help the people we support develop skills, make choices, participate in their communities and achieve their personal goals while ensuring their health, safety, dignity and well-being. What You Will Do Provide direct support and assistance with daily living activities. Support individuals in making choices and achieving personal goals. Assist with meal preparation, housekeeping, shopping, errands and other household activities. Support individuals with community activities, appointments, recreation and social opportunities. Encourage independence, self-advocacy and personal growth. Provide transportation and/or assist individuals with transportation when required. Follow individual service plans, behavioral support plans and agency policies. Complete required documentation accurately and timely. Provide medication administration after completing required certification and training. Recognize and report changes in an individual's health, behavior or well-being. Promote the rights, dignity, privacy and independence of every person we support. Work cooperatively with families, guardians, coworkers and other members of the individual's support team. Attend required training and maintain all required certifications. What We Are Looking For We are looking for individuals who are: Compassionate and respectful. Dependable and responsible. Patient and willing to learn. Comfortable working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Able to work independently as well as part of a team. Able to communicate effectively and complete required documentation. Willing to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the individuals we support. Prior experience is helpful but not required. Paid training is provided. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Must be at least 18 years of age. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation is required for all positions. Must successfully complete required background checks and agency/DDS-required training. Must be able to meet the physical and job-related requirements of the position. Employees responsible for medication administration must successfully complete and maintain required medication certification. Compensation & Benefits Starting wage: $20.33 per hour.
