Job Description

Job Overview:

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) work with individuals who have intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. Support services occur in a variety of settings and may include assisting with personal care as needed and assigned, assisting with living activities, assisting in communication and self-expression, and ultimately supporting the individual in meeting their own goals. Join us in making a positive impact on the lives of those we serve by providing compassionate support as a Direct Support Professional!
Responsibilities:
Participate in scheduled staff meetings, In-Services and other meetings as assigned Complete all training(s) by the assigned due date Follow nursing care plans, behavior support plans, individual plans and other guidelines related to the individual Document services performed, individual plan goals, behavior occurrences, incidents, and safety concerns accurately and timely Comply with supervision requirements, as stated in the individual's plan Transport individuals to medical appointments, provide support in the exam room as directed/needed Encourage positive attitudes and personal awareness Assist with meal preparation Encourage good personal hygiene and appropriate and clean attire Employ positive approaches to redirecting individuals to a positive and productive manner Always ensure the safety and well-being of residents Support individuals while participating in community activities and social interactions Maintain a clean and organized living environment for residents
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years of age High school diploma or GED required Must have and maintain a vailed driver's license with 3+ years of driving history Must maintain reliable transportation with current insurance in employee's name Ability to lift over 40 pounds Ability to pass a background check and DDS Registry check Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred
