Caregiver / Personal Care Assistant - Artist & Companion Support Washington, DC Services My Way Program Monday-Friday | Multiple Shifts Available We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and patient caregiver to join a small care team supporting an elderly woman with significant mobility limitations in her home. The position involves assisting with personal care, mobility, meals, household tasks, appointments, and other approved daily-care needs. An especially rewarding part of this position is supporting the client's love of art and painting . Art-related assistance may include:
Helping prepare and organize her painting space Setting up her easel, canvas, paints, brushes, water, and other materials Positioning materials so they are accessible and comfortable for her Assisting with opening containers, arranging supplies, or making other simple adjustments during a painting session Providing physical assistance with positioning as needed Helping keep the workspace clean and organized before and after painting Assisting her during painting sessions while allowing her to remain in control of her creative work Helping document or preserve completed artwork when appropriate Providing encouraging companionship and conversation while she works You do not need to be an artist or have professional art experience. We are simply looking for someone who appreciates creativity, is comfortable around art materials, and would enjoy helping an artist continue doing something she loves. Core Care Responsibilities Depending on the caregiver's assigned duties and the approved care plan, responsibilities may include: Personal care, hygiene, grooming, dressing, and activities of daily living Safe transfers between bed and wheelchair using an automatic Hoyer lift Meal preparation and feeding assistance Medication-related assistance permitted under the applicable care plan and caregiver qualifications Light housekeeping related to the client's needs Grocery shopping and approved errands Accompanying the client to appointments Companionship and social engagement Assistance with art and other meaningful activities Basic care for two household cats Communicating important observations and updates to the care team and family Maintaining clear communication during shift changes Ideal Candidate The ideal caregiver is: Dependable and punctual Patient and compassionate Comfortable providing hands-on personal care Comfortable with significant mobility limitations Experienced with or willing to learn Hoyer-lift transfers Comfortable around cats Comfortable assisting with meals and feeding Respectful of the client's independence and personal choices Interested in supporting creative activities Comfortable working around painting supplies and an art workspace A good communicator Able to work cooperatively with other caregivers and family members Respectful of privacy and confidentiality Schedule Monday-Friday | Approximately 16 hours of care per day We are building a small team of approximately three caregivers to provide consistent weekday coverage.

Compensation and approved hours will be determined according to the applicable Services My Way program requirements and authorized care plan.
