Job Overview Blendem Care is seeking compassionate, dependable, and responsible Caregivers / Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to provide person-centered support to individuals receiving our home and community-based services. Our clients may include children, adolescents, and adults with developmental disabilities, including individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), as well as individuals who need assistance with daily living, companionship, respite, homemaker, and personal support services. Caregivers will provide services based on the individual's authorized services, care/support plan, needs, and applicable requirements. Services You May Provide Depending on your qualifications, training, and assigned position, responsibilities may include: Personal Supports Assistance with activities of daily living Personal hygiene and grooming Dressing and toileting assistance Meal preparation and assistance with eating Mobility and safety support Assistance with daily routines Encouraging independence and self-care skills Companion / Life Skills Development I Provide companionship and social support Assist with appropriate recreational and community activities Encourage communication and social interaction Support development of daily living and independent living skills Assist clients in participating in meaningful activities Respite Care Provide temporary support and supervision for individuals and families Maintain a safe and supportive environment Follow the individual's established routines and support plan Assist with appropriate daily activities while the primary caregiver receives relief Homemaker Services Light housekeeping Laundry Changing linens Meal preparation Grocery/household assistance when authorized Maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary living environment Other household tasks permitted under the authorized service Community-Based Support Accompany clients to approved community activities Support appropriate appointments and activities when authorized Encourage independence and participation in the community Provide appropriate supervision and safety support Experience With Developmental Disabilities Experience working with the following is preferred: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Developmental disabilities Children with special needs Adults with developmental disabilities Behavioral or support needs Personal care Respite Companion care Homemaker services Home care CNA/HHA or direct-support services Minimum Requirements Must be 18 years of age or older High school diploma or GED Must meet applicable qualifications for the service being provided Ability to successfully complete required background screening Reliable transportation may be required depending on the assigned case Must be dependable, punctual, patient, and compassionate Ability to communicate professionally with clients, families, and supervisors Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries Must complete required company and service-specific training Must be able to accurately document services provided Preferred Qualifications CNA HHA Direct Support Professional (DSP) experience Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities CPR/First Aid Previous home-care experience Previous respite, companion, personal-support, or homemaker experience Applicants without CNA/HHA certification may still be considered for positions for which they meet the applicable service qualifications and training requirements. Important Scope of Duties Caregivers will only perform duties they are qualified, trained, and authorized to perform. This position does not authorize a caregiver to independently perform nursing services, administer medical treatment outside their legal scope, or provide professional behavioral/clinical services. Private Duty Nursing services are provided separately by appropriately licensed LPN/RN personnel when authorized.
