Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to provide exceptional care and assistance to individuals with diverse needs. In this vital role, you will support clients in their daily activities, promote independence, and ensure a safe, respectful environment. Responsibilities Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, grooming, dressing, and mobility support using proper patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques. Monitor patients' vital signs, observe changes in health status, and report findings accurately while adhering to HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality. Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning in accordance with dietary needs and care plans. Support clients with medication administration, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to prescribed schedules. Provide patient personal care assistance, including toileting, feeding, and mobility support, while respecting residents' rights and dignity. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and ensuring infection control standards are met. Document care activities thoroughly in accordance with facility policies and assist with updating individual care plans regularly. Skills Proven experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments. Strong patient observation skills to detect changes in health or behavior promptly. Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism. Ability to perform patient transfer methods safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts and patient transfer techniques. Familiarity with medication administration procedures, vital signs monitoring, CPR/First Aid certification preferred. Excellent communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration. Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities or intellectual disabilities is highly valued.
