Job Summary:
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you will provide hands-on care and assistance to individuals in their daily lives. Your role will include helping them develop independent living skills, ensuring community inclusion, and supporting their overall well-being.
Responsibilities:
Provide direct care services tailored to the individual's needs. Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, and grooming. Support individuals in meal preparation and ensure dietary needs are met. Promote independent living skills such as budgeting, grocery shopping, and household chores. Encourage and facilitate community inclusion, social skills, and recreational activities. Implement individualized goals and support plans in a person-centered environment. Ensure the health and safety of all individuals under your care. Identify, document, and report any incidents, allegations of abuse, or concerns as required. Administer medications accurately (upon successful completion of an approved AMAP course). Communicate effectively with staff, management, and families to ensure coordinated care.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. At least 1 year of experience in caregiving, healthcare, or disability support preferred (college credits may be substituted for experience). Must be reliable, patient, and compassionate. Ability to follow care plans and safety procedures. Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
