Overview We are seeking compassionate and dedicated APD Certified Personal Supports and Companions to provide high-quality, person-centered care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role supports clients with daily activities while ensuring health and safety, and promoting independence and participation in home and community settings. The ideal candidate will have strong caregiving experience, be comfortable working in diverse community environments, and demonstrate patience, professionalism, and a genuine passion for supporting others. Duties Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, ensuring comfort and dignity. Provide transportation support to help clients attend appointments, community outings, or recreational activities safely using personal or agency vehicles. Implement behavior management strategies tailored to each individual's needs, promoting positive behaviors and reducing challenging behaviors. Support communication efforts by utilizing skills such as American Sign Language or other augmentative communication methods when applicable. Collect data on client progress, behaviors, and preferences to inform care plans and share insights with team members. Administer medication following prescribed protocols and document all medication-related activities accurately. Engage clients in social activities and community participation to foster independence and enhance social skills. Requirements Experience working with individuals with autism, neurodevelopmental disorders, or developmental disabilities is highly preferred. Knowledge of special education principles, behavioral health practices, and behavior management techniques. Ability to operate a standard passenger car safely for personal transportation assistance. Prior experience in home or community care settings supporting clients with cognitive disabilities or intellectual disabilities. Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and collaboration with team members. Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; ongoing training will be provided if needed. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; experience in personal transportation assistance is advantageous. Ability to collect accurate data related to client progress and behavior patterns for documentation purposes.
