Responsibilities Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using manual handling techniques and patient transfer methods such as Hoyer lifts. Monitor residents' health by taking vital signs, observing patient conditions, and reporting changes to healthcare teams promptly. Support medication administration in accordance with care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safe and accurate delivery of treatments. Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning to meet individual dietary needs, including specialized diets for dementia or Alzheimer's care. Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light cleaning duties, laundry, and ensuring infection control protocols are followed. Provide companionship and emotional support through active communication, engaging activities, and attentive listening to residents' needs. Document care activities accurately in resident records while respecting confidentiality standards such as HIPAA compliance. Assist with transportation for appointments or community outings using appropriate client transportation methods. Support residents during emergencies or medical procedures by following safety protocols like CPR or first aid when necessary. Qualifications Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred. Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, and neurodevelopmental disorders enhances your ability to provide specialized support. Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental delays is advantageous. Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks safely while assisting residents with transfers or mobility challenges. Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration. Certification in CPR and first aid is preferred; ongoing training in patient observation and medication administration is a plus. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations ensures confidentiality of resident information at all times. Compassionate attitude combined with patience and adaptability to meet diverse resident needs in geriatrics or intellectual disabilities support roles.
