Job Summary We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and experienced Personal Care Assistant (PCA) to provide dedicated, in-home support for our elderly mother. The ideal candidate will be patient, highly attentive, and committed to ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of our mother. A caring, patient, and empathetic personality is essential.

Responsibilities Key Responsibilities:

The PCA will be responsible for providing comprehensive personal care and light household duties, including but not limited to:

Mobility and Transferring:

Safely assisting with transfers (e.g., lift chair to wheelchair, wheelchair to commode) using proper techniques and equipment (e.g., gait belt, and assist poles) | Training will be provided to ensure demonstrated proficiency and proper technique. Assisting with wheelchair mobility inside the home and outside the home to include car transfers if needed.

Personal Hygiene and Toileting:

Assisting with daily grooming (washing face/hands and brushing teeth) No Showering/Bathing duties: We will take care of all Showering/Bathing responsibilities. Providing support with toileting and continence care.

Medication Management:

Following Physician/Family specific instructions to ensure medications are administered accurately and on time. Documenting in appropriate log/notebook of Vitals taken before each meal and any medication administration needed. Follow prescribed patient protocols while adhering to HIPAA regulations to maintain confidentiality.

Companionship and Supervision:

Providing engaging companionship and supervision to ensure safety throughout the day. Reporting any/all changes in health, behavior, or condition immediately to the family. Contact 911 and appropriate Medical EMTs in event of a medical emergency or general emergency when needed.

Light Housekeeping and Meal Prep:

Performing light cleaning duties, e.g., emptying all garbage cans, tidying the living area, cleaning kitchen area after meals, cleaning bathroom, and folding laundry when needed. Heating and serving previously prepared nutritious, simple meals and snacks following a daily schedule/routine. Qualifications and Requirements Proven experience as a Personal Care Assistant, Caregiver, or in a similar role, preferably caring for the elderly with First Aid knowledge/training. CPR training preferred, not required. Ability to perform and document patient monitoring tasks such as vitals (blood pressure, blood sugar, temperature, O2) and to follow a detailed care plan with meticulous attention to detail. Strong patient observation skills with the ability to recognize changes in condition or behavior promptly and document appropriately. Demonstrated proficiency and training in safe patient transferring techniques using a gait belt, lift chair, and assist poles. Capable of some lifting and manual handling techniques necessary for patient transfer methods including manual Hoyer lift. Reliable transportation and a punctual work ethic. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be able to pass a background check and provide professional references.

$16.00 - $18.00 per hour Expected hours: 35-40 per week.
