Job Description

Job Summary:
The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) provides individualized, goal-oriented support to a high-functioning adult with intellectual and developmental disabilities living within a family home. Rather than performing tasks for the individual, the PCA focuses on teaching, guiding, and mentoring the client to increase independent living skills, manage health outcomes, and safely access the community. The ideal candidate serves as a professional boundary advocate, ensuring the client's rights, finances, and personal choices are respected and protected. Essential Duties and Responsibilities1. Independent Living Skill Building Support the client in developing and maintaining daily living skills, including independent cooking, household chores, and personal organization. Provide training in personal financial literacy, including creating a budget, handling currency, and managing a private bank account. Teach self-advocacy skills, empowering the client to assert their rights, and make independent lifestyle choices.
