Job Title:
Direct Support Professional
  • Hourly SCL Elkader Work Location Elkader Staff start their day in Elkader and take an agency vehicle and drive to visit clients in their own homes, apartments and family homes.
Homes are located within a 45 minute radius of Elkader IA. Staff work one on one with clients unless participating in a group event Staff are provided a chromebook and smartphone and are allowed to document and train at home while paid for their time. Schedule Schedule rotates every 6 weeks. Staff work one weekend day every 6 weeks. If scheduled to work a Saturday, the 6 weeks later will work a Sunday. Staff are assigned a caseload of clients
  • usually 5-6 or more depending on their need.
Staff work around clients schedule i.e Day Hab (9a-130p), work, appointments, etc. Schedule is built based on the assigned caseload. Schedule has some flexibility built into it. Schedule is not set and changes depending on client needs. The latest hours staff would typically work with clients is 9:30p Hours will also vary depending on large group out of town events i.e. Iowa games, Wrestling, etc.
Requirements:
Assisting clients in their home with the following items Medication Management RISE provides training Oversight of med minder preparation Refilling medications Passing medications as needed. Cooking and cleaning skills Teach skills needed to maintain a home
  • cleaning, laundry, etc.
Teach skills needed to prepare food Includes meal portioning, out of date food identification, etc. Financial setting a budget paying bills reconciling accounts with bank statements Health and safety skills Taking medications Getting to needed appointments Learning fire and storm safety Community safety skills Avoiding exploitation Traffic safety Social skills Making friends Socializing with others Being appropriate Relationship skills Problem solving and decision making Informed choice Natural consequences Transportation and involvement in medical appointments and cares Attending appointments
  • staff involved in the appointments May include transportation to larger cities i.e. Iowa City, Rochester MN, etc. Transportation and involvement in shopping for goods and services Groceries Home supplies Transportation and involvement in social gatherings and events Small group events
  • cards, cookouts, etc Large group events
  • Out of town trips
  • Rodeo, IA Basketball game.
Documentation Online Checkbox documentation 10 min Per Day Paid documentation time at home, if needed.
Wages Any trainings or meetings:
$18.50 an hour While working with clients, documenting, anything client related before 4pm
  • $20.75 an hour While working with clients, documenting, anything client related after 4pm
  • $23.
