This is a person-centered support position focused on helping individuals build independence and reach their personal goals.

we are here to help people help themselves. What You'll Do As a DSP, you will work directly with participants in their home and community to provide encouragement, guidance, companionship, and practical support.

Responsibilities may include:

Supporting participants in working toward their individual goals and care plans Encouraging independence and helping participants develop everyday life skills Providing guidance with household routines, organization, meal preparation, shopping, budgeting, and other independent-living skills Accompanying participants to appointments, activities, errands, and community outings Providing transportation when appropriate, with mileage reimbursement available Encouraging healthy social interaction and participation in the community Helping participants practice decision-making, problem-solving, communication, and self-advocacy Providing reminders, prompts, and encouragement while allowing the participant to do as much for themselves as possible Supporting participants in developing confidence and maintaining independence Assisting with recreational activities, hobbies, and activities that are meaningful to the individual Documenting services, progress, activities, and important observations Following each participant's individualized support plan and safety procedures Building positive, respectful relationships while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries What This Position Is NOT This is not an assisted-living or medical caregiving position. There are no Hoyer lifts or mechanical lifts, and the position does not involve routine toileting, changing briefs, bathing assistance, or other extensive personal-care duties. Our goal is not to do everything for the participant — it is to support them in learning, practicing, and maintaining the skills they need to do things for themselves. The Right Person for This Role We are looking for someone who is: Patient, compassionate, and respectful Dependable and responsible Comfortable working independently A good communicator Comfortable supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and/or mental health diagnoses Encouraging rather than controlling Able to maintain professional boundaries Comfortable driving participants when required Willing to be flexible and meet individuals where they are Passionate about helping people become more independent Why DSP Work Is Different Every participant is different, and no two days are necessarily the same. You may spend one day helping someone practice grocery shopping and budgeting, another day accompanying them to an appointment, and another helping them work toward a personal or recreational goal. You aren't there to take over — you're there to teach, encourage, support, and empower. The ultimate goal is to help each participant build the confidence, skills, and independence to live the life they want. Mileage for approved participant transportation is reimbursed.

Pay:

$12.00 - $16.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
