What You'll Do As a Direct Support Professional, you'll help individuals build confidence, develop life skills, and enjoy greater independence by: Supporting daily routines, personal care, and household tasks. Teaching life skills such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and organization. Encouraging independence while providing guidance and support. Building positive relationships through conversation, activities, and companionship. Accompanying individuals to appointments, community outings, and recreational activities. Helping participants develop friendships and meaningful community connections. Teaching safety skills that promote confidence and independence. Providing personal care and behavioral support when needed. Maintaining accurate documentation and participant records. Completing paid training and certifications, including CPR and First Aid.
