Position Summary:

The Developmental Trainer provides direct support, instruction, and guidance to adults with developmental disabilities in a day program setting. This role focuses on teaching daily living skills, fostering independence, supporting social and recreational engagement, and assisting individuals in achieving their personal employment goals. The Developmental Trainer works collaboratively with program staff, families, and community partners to create an inclusive, safe, and empowering environment.

By nurturing each individual's strengths and interests, we support holistic development and help them reach their full potential. Key Responsibilities Provide individualized training and support in areas such as self-care, communication, socialization, community access, vocational preparation, and independent living skills. Implement person-centered program plans, goals, and activities designed to meet the unique needs of each participant. Foster a positive and respectful environment that promotes dignity, choice, and independence. Facilitate recreational, educational, and community outings to enhance participant engagement and quality of life. Support participants in developing appropriate work habits, volunteering, or pre-employment skills, as applicable. Accurately documents attendance, progress notes, incidents, and goal achievement according to agency and regulatory standards. Maintain a safe environment by following health, safety, and emergency procedures. Communicate effectively with program team members, supervisors, and families to ensure coordinated support. Participate in staff meetings, in-service training, and professional development opportunities. Light janitorial duties, as needed during the program day. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in human services, education, psychology, or related field preferred. Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in a human services setting preferred. Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to maintain patience, empathy, and professionalism in a variety of situations. Must be able to lift, transfer, or provide physical assistance as needed. CPR, First Aid, and other required certifications (or willingness to obtain). Core Competencies Person-Centered Support

Work Environment Day program setting with a combination of classroom-style training, community outings, and hands-on support. Requires physical activity, including assisting participants with mobility and engaging in recreational activities.

• 20/hour, based on qualifications, with annual performance reviews every January Health benefits offered for 30+ hours/week IRA offered after one year of satisfactory full-time employment For full-time staff, more than 30 hours/week: One (1) week PTO provided.
